From August 4–6, 2025, at the LEARN-VN Project Office, Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development, University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University), the training course “Exploring Renewable Energy” was held with the participation of trainers and all trainees from the LEARN-VN project’s Training of Trainers (ToT) program. This event was part of the LEARN-VN Project’s series of activities, aiming to raise awareness and promote the adoption of clean energy within communities.
Against the backdrop of increasingly complex climate change, the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure energy security has become a top global priority. Vietnam has made strong commitments to driving an energy transition toward greener, cleaner, and more sustainable pathways. Renewable energy sources—particularly solar power—are considered key solutions to realizing the dual goal of economic growth and environmental protection, while advancing toward net-zero emissions by 2050. Equipping officials, educators, and communities with knowledge and skills in renewable energy is therefore of great significance, helping to spread awareness and promote real-world application.
From Fundamentals to Applications
Over the course of three days, the program provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of renewable energy—a sustainable and environmentally friendly power source.
In addition to theoretical sessions, trainees practiced discussion skills, developed communication plans, and conducted mock training sessions for community outreach.
Learning Through Hands-On Experience
The highlight of this year’s course was a field visit to operational solar power models under the guidance of industry experts. Here, participants observed the installation, operation, and maintenance processes, and directly engaged with specialists to resolve questions arising during the course.
These hands-on experiences not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also broadened participants’ understanding of how renewable energy can be applied in daily life, production, and climate change adaptation at the local level.
Spreading the Spirit of Sustainable Development
According to the organizing committee, the training course was designed not only to equip participants with practical skills but also to build a network of core communicators—individuals capable of sharing knowledge and inspiring communities to embrace clean energy.
By integrating academic knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience, the course is expected to strongly amplify the message of sustainable development while advancing Vietnam’s energy transition.
