Communities in Climate Change Hotspots of Bangladesh Are Resisting the Impacts of Extreme Climate Events.
Their lives and livelihoods are constantly disrupted by climate change, facing varying degrees of vulnerability across different regions and communities. As a result, tailored solutions are required to address these unique challenges.
Meeting these communities provides a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand experience, explore existing climate risks, and understand how individuals and entire communities are adapting, as well as what they truly need in practice.
This was one of the key activities of a team of scientists and researchers from ICRAF Vietnam, Thai Nguyen University, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development during their visit to the Climate Centre in Gazipur, Bangladesh, from August 19-25, 2023. The visit aimed to enhance knowledge and contribute to the development of the first climate adaptation learning center in Southeast Asia, supporting Vietnam’s efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, as committed at COP26.
