On March 22, 2024, Brot für die Welt (BROT) and the International Agroforestry Research Organization (ICRAF – also known as World Agroforestry) in Viet Nam visited and worked with Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF).
Prof. Nguyen The Hung, Chairman of TUAF’s Council, welcomed BROT and ICRAF to visit and work with the school, and was pleased to announce to BROT and ICRAF representatives an important information that is the project “Learning Center for Zero Emission and Climate Resilience in Northern Viet Nam” was officially approved.
For his part, Mr. Christopher Benjamin Selbach, Head of the Global Project Department for the East Asia-Mekong region of the BROT Office headquarters in Berlin (Germany), expressed his satisfaction with the working visit to Thai Nguyen. He emphasized that BROT, with more than 60 years of accompanying people in improving their livelihoods, always considers agriculture and farming as the main focal points in solving poverty. He also said that one of the current urgent issues is climate change, which BROT identified as one of the priorities for its strategic plan. For her part, Ms. Frauke Peters-Barisic, Head of BROT Regional Office for Viet Nam & Laos, emphasized that the Project has been considered by BROT as an important & a pioneering project.
Dr. Nguyen Quang Tan, ICRAF’s Country Coordinator for Viet Nam, took the opportunity to present an overview of the Project as well as action plan for the time to come time.
On behalf of TUAF, Asso.Prof./Dr. Nguyen Hung Quang, appreciated the efforts made by Project’s partners and reaffirmed the highest commitment of TUAF in implementation of the Project in the upcoming time.
After the meeting, delegates visited the Climate Park located in the Project site. I will share in the future posts with more detail about this meaningful Project.
