On the afternoon of April 4, 2025, a significant working session was held at the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Trần Thị Thu Hà – Director of the Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hồ Ngọc Sơn – Climate Change Expert, MSc. Bùi Tuấn Tuân – LEARN-VN Project Coordinator, and Dr. Tobias Matusch – Climate Change Expert from Hochschule Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, Germany. This meeting was part of a series of international cooperation activities aimed at promoting climate change research and action projects, with a focus on the project “Learning Center for Carbon Neutrality and Climate Resilience in Northern Vietnam” (LEARN-VN).
During the session, both parties discussed opportunities for collaboration and strategic consulting for the LEARN-VN project, especially in integrating the goal of net-zero emissions—one of the key targets in current global climate change response strategies. The experts agreed that accelerating progress toward this goal would help develop a sustainable model that serves not only academic activities but also enhances practical applications.
Through the meeting, the two sides agreed to co-organize an international seminar on Carbon Neutrality for lecturers, researchers, and students of the University of Agriculture and Forestry – Thai Nguyen University in April 2025. This event marks the beginning and foundation for expanding cooperation between the two institutions in the near future.
In addition, the representatives discussed potential collaborations in project development, research, and the publication of international scientific articles on climate change. This partnership will not only improve research quality but also provide opportunities for Vietnamese scholars and experts to access advanced research trends and share knowledge and practical experiences from developed countries.
This activity is part of Dr. Tobias Matusch’s working program at the University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University) from March 31 to April 17, 2025.
