The Working Delegation of Xin Man District People’s Committee Visits and Works at the Institute

Date

On November 27, 2020, within the framework of discussions, exchanges, and the signing of a cooperation agreement between Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry and the People’s Committee of Xin Man District – Ha Giang Province, a delegation from the Xin Man District People’s Committee visited the facilities and seedling nursery at the Institute of Forestry Research and Development.

The delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Director of the Institute, along with the heads and deputy heads of affiliated units. The delegation toured the facilities, tissue culture laboratory, and high-tech nursery system of the Institute.

Institute Director Ha introduced the scientific research programs that the Institute has implemented and is currently conducting. With strong scientific expertise and modern research equipment, the Institute of Forestry Research and Development at Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry has, for many years, focused on identifying, preserving, breeding, and propagating numerous orchid species, particularly those classified as rare and valuable.

“If we do not make efforts to conserve, one day these rare species will disappear. Our work is, first and foremost, to contribute to biodiversity conservation, and secondly, we hope that our scientific products will have a societal impact—both protecting the forests and improving the livelihoods of people in mountainous areas.” – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha

The delegation also toured the infrastructure and various experimental planting models at the Institute. Medicinal plant species being cultivated and developed at the Institute, such as Dendrobium officinale (Lan Thach Hoc Tia), Anoectochilus (Lan Kim Tuyen), Lycopodium (Thong Dat), Celastrus hindsii (Xa Den), Abelmoschus sagittifolius (Sam Bo Chinh), Indian Sandalwood (Dan Huong), and Polygonatum kingianum (Hoang Tinh Trang), received significant attention and high appreciation from the leaders and officials of the visiting delegation.
