Acceptance Review of the Tissue-Cultured Seedling Standards for Valuable Medicinal Plants under the Ministry-Level Science Project CT-592.DABKHCN.04.2015

Date

Project Title: “Completion of In Vitro Propagation Technology and Cultivation of High-Value Medicinal Plants (Anoectochilus setaceus Blume, Polycias fruticosa L.Harms, and Zingber zerumber Sm.)”

Based on Decision No. 784/QD-KHCN dated July 20, 2016, regarding the establishment of the Acceptance Council for the tissue-cultured seedling standards at the institutional level, issued by the Rector of Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), the acceptance review meeting was conducted on July 29, 2016, at TUAF.

The meeting evaluated the tissue-cultured seedling standards under the Ministry-level project “Completion of In Vitro Propagation Technology and Cultivation of High-Value Medicinal Plants (Anoectochilus setaceus Blume, Polycias fruticosa L.Harms, and Zingber zerumber Sm.)”, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha.

Participants of the Meeting:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Nong – Vice-Rector of TUAF, Chairman of the Council

  • Dr. Le Minh – Representative of the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation (KHCN&HTQT)

  • Dr. Phan Thuy Hien

  • Dr. Nguyen Van Khiem – Institute of Medicinal Materials

  • Other council members as per the decision

Evaluated Tissue-Cultured Seedling Standards:

  1. Tissue-cultured seedling standards for Polycias fruticosa L.Harms (Đinh lăng)

  2. Tissue-cultured seedling standards for Anoectochilus setaceus Blume (Lan kim tuyến)

  3. Tissue-cultured seedling standards for Zingber zerumber Sm. (Gừng gió)

Conclusion:

The council evaluated and confirmed that these tissue-cultured seedling standards for the three valuable medicinal plant species were based on 31 research topics conducted at the Institute of Forestry Research and Development and trialed in Thai Nguyen Province. The findings demonstrated a significant breakthrough as no previous publications had addressed these standards.

The council highly rated the results, acknowledging them as a foundation for establishing a national brand for high-quality medicinal plant seedlings, benefiting medicinal plant growers across Vietnam.
