Research on the Propagation of Purple Ba Kich (Anoectochilus setaceus Blume) Using In Vitro Method

Date

Ba Kich has a spicy, sweet taste and a warm nature. Its effects include kidney nourishment, enhancing male vitality, strengthening bones and tendons, and alleviating rheumatism. Ba Kich is particularly effective in boosting energy for elderly patients, treating physical weakness, fatigue, and poor sleep. Additionally, it helps relieve joint pain symptoms in arthritis patients.

There are various ways to use this natural “Viagra.” Typically, dried Ba Kich is stewed with chicken or brewed into herbal tea. However, the most common method is soaking it in alcohol. In traditional Eastern medicine, Ba Kich is considered an effective herbal remedy for male sexual dysfunction. It has warming properties, a slightly spicy taste, and helps to strengthen the kidneys, reinforce bones and tendons, boost male vitality, and alleviate rheumatism. Ancient physicians often used Ba Kich-infused liquor as a treatment for male sexual health issues, nocturnal emissions, lower back pain, and weak joints and tendons.

The Institute of Forestry Research and Development – Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry has successfully applied plant cell culture technology to propagate disease-free, high-quality Purple Ba Kich seedlings. These seedlings maintain uniformity, preserve the superior characteristics of the mother plants, and exhibit a high multiplication rate. This technology meets the large-scale production demands in mountainous provinces of Northern Vietnam, including Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, and Cao Bang.
