On March 30, 2023, the Vietnam Office of the World Agroforestry Organization (ICRAF), led by Dr. Nguyễn Quang Tân, National Coordinator, visited and worked in Thái Nguyên Province.
During the visit, ICRAF Vietnam attended a meeting with Thái Nguyên University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development (IFS – under TUAF), and other relevant agencies and organizations. The discussion focused on the implementation of the “Learning Center for Emission Neutrality and Climate Resilience in Northern Vietnam” (LEARN-VN) project, funded by Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt – BfdW) for the period 2023–2025. This project aims to contribute to Vietnam’s commitment at COP-26 to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thế Hùng, Chairman of the TUAF Council, expressed sincere gratitude to BfdW and ICRAF, reaffirming TUAF’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of the project’s activities.
On behalf of ICRAF, Dr. Nguyễn Quang Tân introduced the project’s design, approach, key activities, and information regarding the climate learning center.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thái Nguyên Province emphasized its focus on sustainable agriculture, particularly agroforestry and circular agriculture, and confirmed its commitment to closely collaborating with TUAF to achieve the project’s objectives.
On the same day, ICRAF Vietnam visited the proposed project site, planted commemorative trees, and held technical discussions with IFS regarding the next steps in project implementation.
