Workshop on Capacity Development Needs Assessment for Climate Change Adaptation
On July 2, 2024, within the framework of the “Learning Center for Emission Neutrality and Climate Resilience in Northern Vietnam” (#LEARNVN) project, the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development (IFS) under the University of Agriculture and Forestry – Thai Nguyen University, in collaboration with the International Center for Research in Agroforestry (#ICRAF) in Vietnam, organized a workshop titled “Sharing the Results of the Capacity Development Needs Assessment for Climate Change.”
The workshop gathered representatives from government agencies, research institutions, secondary and high schools, universities, experts, and various stakeholders.
The Capacity Development Needs Assessment (CDNA) for the project’s key target groups plays a crucial role in designing training programs to enhance capacity in climate change adaptation within the LEARN-VN project. The workshop featured two discussion sessions:
-
Findings from the capacity development needs assessment for the project’s key target groups.
-
Proposals for training content in capacity-building programs.
Both sessions saw active participation, with delegates engaging in discussions on capacity-building needs for different target groups. The CDNA results were highly regarded, accurately reflecting the current state of climate change knowledge and skills within the research areas. The workshop also identified and prioritized training programs as the foundation for the next steps of the LEARN-VN project.
The LEARN-VN project aims to contribute to Vietnam’s commitment at COP-26 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to provide knowledge on climate change adaptation for Vietnamese communities. The project is funded by Bread for the World, supported by Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry, and implemented by ICRAF (World Agroforestry) and the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development.
