As part of the “Enhancing Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development in Vietnam” (Clidev) project, and in line with the project’s 2023 activities, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry organized a training session on carbon emission calculation and CO2 tools at the university from August 14-16, 2023. The training included participants from Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, Tay Nguyen University, and Vietnam Forestry University.
– The training covered techniques for establishing plots and measuring forest trees, and collecting data for carbon emission calculations at the Me Linh Biodiversity Station.
– Participants were trained in using the CarbonScen program to forecast changes in carbon emissions among different land-use types in the future.
– Training was also provided on using the CO2fix program to calculate and predict changes in biomass and carbon stock aboveground, belowground, and in the soil.
Through the training, participants gained insights and exchanged knowledge not only on the technical aspects of managing, calculating, and forecasting biomass and carbon stocks but also on promoting sustainable development in the forestry sector in the future.
